Warmth
(A Jake Frost & Rapunzel One-Shot Fanfic)

Soft breathing,
Gentle features,
Light pink flushes,
Framed by tender gleaming strands of very long golden hair.
Jack Frost couldn't help but smile in earnest as he watched the sleeping girl presently adrift in another world - most likely it was a sweet dream as she seemed serenely peaceful at present.
He contemplated about this mysterious girl. She seemed to be about his age. Well, of course, not exactly his current age, age… And how had he ended up gazing at her by her bedside? Now who wouldn't be a teensy bit curious about who lived in a tower that was practically hidden from the rest of the outside world? Jack mused silently to himself as he continued to watch her with a gleam of pure wonder dancing in his frosty blue eyes.
Except for a sleeping chameleon next to her, the girl seemed to be all alone in this place.
Alone.
A feeling of sadness swept over him as he knew well the meaning of that word. A word that left him continuously searching – searching for something, anything to fill this missing piece that he constantly felt within him. His heart went out to the girl. Was she too going through the same thing as he? Would she too understand this unexplainable pain he felt that others could not see?
Just then, he saw the girl's expression change. She seemed to mumble something and clutched tighter at the blanket around her.
Then a tear rolled down the side of her cheek and Jack could not help but lean in closer. Concerned as to what it was she saw in her dreams.
Impulsively he reached out as gently as possible and touched the side of her face where the tear had fallen.
Then he felt it.
Warmth.
A steady warmth radiated through the tip of his fingers as they came into contact with her skin.
He held his breath for awhile to see if she would wake up suddenly. But although she stirred ever so slightly, she continued to remain heavily in her slumber.
Then, gently he whispered to her,
"It's going to be okay."
He didn't know why he said it, but somehow it felt like the right thing to say and maybe deep down, he dared to, wanted to believe it. To hope that one day it really was going to be okay.
Somewhere in the depths of her dreams, she must have somehow heard, for the corners of her lips changed subtly into a quiet smile and her peaceful expression returned.
Jack felt the warmth again. This time it glowed in his heart.

The next morning, Rapunzel woke up to a sunny day. But it wasn't the stream of golden sunlight that made her wake up with this odd feeling of comfort.
It was the strange dream the night before.
"Hmm," Rapunzel wondered as she absent mindedly tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and as she did so, her fingers brushed the side of her face and she stopped.
Warmth.
A strange warmth she had felt.
Like a brush of snow that melted in the glow of sunlight.
It was tender.
A tender caring warmth.
"It's going to be okay."
She suddenly repeated aloud (causing the still snoozing Pascal to jump slightly) as she recalled the words of the mysterious form in her dream.
Then after a moment of wonderment, she smiled as the warmth spread throughout her being, filling her heart with hope.
"Thank you," she whispered to no one in particular.
Although she did not hear it, an invisible figure outside her window smiled back and replied quietly,
"You're welcome."

Author's Notes ♥:
A fic dedicated to #JackFrostXRapunzel (Frozen Lanterns) group. This is particularly a one-shot because frankly, I'm overwhelmed by the other amazing Jackunzel fics out there! (And I was greatly inspired by those beautiful Jackunzel vids on Youtube.) But I'm in love with the ship and just had to write something to satisfy the heart's yearning. Thus, here it is. (Oh Goodness – I haven't written for so long!). Hope you all enjoyed this small sweet bit ^_^ Merry Christmas everyone!
